Copacabana... the one in Bolivia!

Yesterday left La Paz and went on a tour to some very old pre inca ruins, which I´m sure were very interesting to people who are really into ancient history, but it sort of passed me by. The upside for me was that it was a really nice group of people and as usual everyone was discussing their amazing travelling experiences, which is always inspiring. There was a Canadian woman and her daughter, the mum was about 70 and for the past 20 years they have gone off for 6 week adventures every year and they have done the most amazing things... they have backpacks and tents, have trekked across the Himalayas, climbed Kilamanjaro, jumped out of planes, you name it they have done it and the mum says she is going to keep going until she drops!! (Canadians have far more stamina I think!)
Took all my gear with me on the trip and on the way back was dropped in a very dodgy place to catch a local bus to Copacabana, luckily the tour guide put me in the right place, bought my ticket off a tout and seemingly threatened some man to make sure I got on the right bus or else he would find him and cut off his legs! I did get on the bus and it was a ´very´local bus with all the people travelling back from market. After two hours when we reached Lake Titicaca we all had to get off the bus get onto a little boat and cross a narrow part of the lake, while the bus was put on board a barge and came across separately, I had no idea what was going on but luckily the man who had been charged with my well being grunted at me occasionally and pointed me in the right direction.
I arrived when it was dark which I don´t like doing and had nowhere to stay, but had a name from the rough guide and went there and it was fine, except no internet access.
This afternoon I am catching a ferry across to the Isla la Sol and probably going to stay a couple of nights there, I am going to the northern part which is very unspoilt, no cars, no communication with the outside world and it is supposed to be very beautiful. I am anxious about going because Jo is supposed to be flying to Venezuela tomorrow, and I know with the snow she may not be able to go and I feel like a bad mum if I am out of contact, but she has told me not to be so silly (but I am still in a high anxiety state!!)
The weather here is obviously warmer than it is there, hot during the day but pretty cold at night, but I won´t go on about that!
OK will report in again in a couple of days. No pics because I´m in an internet cafe. x
